Ulysses S. Grant

    Ulysses S. Grant was the Supreme General of the Union Army and had an excellent battle record. Grant failed at everything at life except for marriage and being a war leader. Abraham Lincoln appointed him to be the Supreme General. He attacked Richmond which was the Confederate Capital. He pinned down the Confederate army. Grant had a successful battle record. He won the battle in Vicksburg, Mississippi and Fort Henrey, Tennessee. Robert E. Lee surrendered to Grant in 1865  and made sure that Lee wasn't tried for treason.

Robert E. Lee

    Robert Edward Lee turned down the Union Army General job and was very respected from both the North and the South. He turned down the job because he was from Virigina and was very loyal to his state. He opposed slavery and succession. He fought for what he didn't believe in. Lee was a great motivator. He was also a very religious man, and very much a gentleman.

Abraham Lincoln

    Abraham Lincoln was said to be one of the best presidents America has ever seen. Lincoln was extremely popular because of his debates which is  why he got elected. He strongly opposed on 3 things: slavery, states' rights, and war. He gave very motivating speeches such as the Emancipation Proclamation, and the Ghettyburg address. He thought war was the only way to save the Union. Lincoln was elected for a second term presidency.

Jefferson Davis

 Jefferson Davis was the president of the Confederate States of America. He wanted to be a general, not a president. Davis was a push over. He argued with the states a lot about who was in charge. He appointed good generals, but argued with them which made the army run poorly. He admitted defeat by running and was tried for treason in 1866

    "I worked day and night for twelve years to prevent the war, but I could not. The North was mad and blind, would not let us govern ourselves, and so the war came."
